Day 01
(22.12)
It was a nervous morning for me since I woke up at 6. It was a sunny day, rare during the rainy season. On the way, I accidentally locked up my SIM card while on the way to the airport, darn, can't use hp anymore till zI get it unlock. The flight did not delay, the view from the air
is extremely beautiful. My dad followed me to Miri, guess that he's worry about me. We reach miri at 9.15am. My dad's friends in Miri come and fetch us. After having our breakfast at Mosjaya and a little shopping, we all headed for the camp at Soon Hup Villa. Lucky enough, my
friend, Ah King's house is very close to the camp, so I put some of my belongings including my HP at his house before we go to the camp.
The first thing I did there in the camp was registeration and taking things from the logistict room. After that, I'm required to cut my hair there because all the male participants there need crew hair cut. Btw, my hair was cut using scissors so it wasn't really good looking. Then I
waited for around 30 minutes inside the office for someone to take me to my room. I did watch the others marching after their tea-break till their lunch time. While they're having their lunch, I was shown to my room. I got the very last room - L10B. I will have to get my locker
number, and walked all the way to the office to collect the key, and back again to my room to arrange my belongings. I did find the locker quite safe. The bed provided is actually better than I'd expected. The room is also very clean and everything is new. I decided to have my
lunch so I went to the canteen and found out that I need RM10 to rent the tray, cup, spoon and fork, problem: I only brought RM4 to the camp. So I waited for another 20 minutes for the "tauke nio". The worker over there wasn't a great help, he's just busy with his laptop, not really
fullfiling his responsibility. Luckily, I'm allowed to rent all the tools at RM4. Met my old classmate there at the canteen as well. I learned that we can leave the dinning set at the canteen after meal, so we do not need to go back to the room and collect them for the next
meal.
After the lunch, the afternoon activity started by singing some malay songs. I was almost for it 'cause I was taking a nap in the room. I learned that we are splited into 4 groups - Alfa, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, arranged according to the room we're in. Our group was taught on how to
use the map and compass. The maps they supplied are "Restrictect". The other group got their own activities - water sport, station game (rintangan). Those having activities were quite unlucky because it rained not long after that. So the groups outside came in earlier than
usual for tea break. Due to the rain, the second half activities for the rest of the afternoon were cancelled for all groups. We all rest, took our bath, and wash our clothes. 6.30-7.30pm is the time for our dinner, and after that is the speech by the camp operators and trainers. They
warned those who change thier rooms. They also mention that no shorts and round neck t-shirts are allowed outside our room. They reminded us that sleeping time is 11pm. I also learned that the Dobi service only wash and dry shirts and pants provided. All dirty clothes must be handed
in by 6.30pm. After that, it's time for them for trashtalking about moustarch till around 10pm. It was then followed by more food and we are all free to go to bed.
